New Homeowner Orientation

Once the entire construction process has been completed, we’ll do more than simply hand you the keys and be on our way. After everything has been finalized, our team will schedule an appointment with you to walk through every part of your new home so that you can review it, and we can go over a variety of important topics related to the recent construction process and your final expectations.

This orientation meeting is an important part of our quality assurance measures because it gives us the opportunity to walk through your new home with you and be available for any concerns, questions, or thoughts that you have about the way everything turned out. It is important to every member of our team that we can meet your standards for quality and if there is something you’re not satisfied with, this meeting is the best time to bring it up so we can address it as quickly as possible.

When This Will Happen

The orientation meeting for your new home will be scheduled very soon after the full completion of all construction and preparation work that has been planned. After we’ve had the opportunity to make sure that everything in your custom home’s design has been fully integrated, we will reach out and schedule an appropriate time to meet with you and walk through the property. Your comfort and convenience are very important to us, so if there are concerns or complications, don’t worry about reaching out to reschedule.

What to Expect

A new homeowner orientation with Style Custom Homes will always include a complete, detailed demonstration of your home’s features. This includes a discussion on best practices for the operation and long-term care of any additional products or equipment that have been added to your home as part of the building process. As an opportunity to address any quality assurance concerns, this meeting is also a wonderful opportunity for us to confirm that our construction team has completed their work in a way that meets your expectations and that everything has been installed the way you wanted.

These meetings will typically be handled by your custom home’s project manager, and will include demonstrations on how to operate and care for the following:

  • Heating and air-conditioning unit controls
  • Various appliances
  • The location and operation of your electrical circuit breakers
  • Plumbing systems, including shut-off valves
  • Any other important features and customized elements

We also encourage you to feel comfortable fully inspecting the home from top to bottom. Everything from the walls, windows, and trimming to the mirrors, appliances, and various surfaces should be examined closely. If there is anything you’re concerned about, or if you notice any chips, scratches, or other types of damage that may have been caused during construction, don’t hesitate to point it out so we can take the appropriate measures as quickly as possible.

Ways to Prepare

As the final step in our custom home design process before we hand you the keys, we always want to make sure that any questions you have are completely addressed by the time the new home orientation is complete. If you’ve been thinking about certain aspects of the process, or have lingering concerns that you feel have not been fully addressed, then this meeting is the best time to bring them up.

Because the final closing step is so close at this point, we understand how easy it can be to be excited, overwhelmed, or even anxious about how it all will turn out. To help you feel more confident during this step of the process, we will make every effort to avoid making you feel rushed during the meeting.

Here are a few important things to remember ahead of your new home orientation:

  • Don’t be afraid to ask as many questions as possible. Anything you want to talk about is completely welcomed, and our team will make every effort to answer your concerns in the best possible way.
  • Consider bringing a paper and pen, or even a camera to take notes and document the condition of your home for your own peace of mind.
  • Don’t be afraid to take your time. Being thorough is an important part of this orientation so we can be sure you are completely satisfied with the final outcome of your new home.

What’s Next?

At the conclusion of your orientation meeting with our team, we’ll go over the next steps in the process so you are fully informed of the timeline. At this point, there are only a few small pieces to take care of before we hand you your keys and close out everything!
