The Building Process
The Building Process
As one of the largest investments most people will make over the course of their lives, a custom home can give people an overwhelming sense of accomplishment, and there are few moments during the process more groundbreaking than, well, breaking ground for the first time at your chosen location!
Once all of the plans have been settled, the agreements have been made, and everything has been finalized, our construction manager Josh Pearson, will bring in a team of hand-picked craftsmen. This carefully selected group of talented individuals will be responsible for making sure that your home is built in the best possible way using the highest standards and most effective techniques to ensure that everything from the bottom of the foundation to the top of the roof will be exactly the way you deserve.
The actual process of building your customized home will be broken down into phases that start with making sure the land itself is properly prepared before moving onto the laying of the foundation and beyond. Each phase of this process is an important part of making sure that the customized home we’ve worked with you to design will be exactly the way you expect. We’ll also keep you fully informed of the progress so that you can always be aware of what’s going on along the way.
Excavation and Preparation
This is the first phase of every project, and the amount of work required to prepare your homesite will vary depending on a variety of factors including location and the surrounding environment. It can be a straightforward removal of topsoil or involve a more complex excavation of the area along with proper grading to make sure everything is even before going forward with construction.
Laying the Foundation
In most cases, the first step in construction will be to fully develop the foundation of your home. Your home’s foundation is the core structural support of the entire site, and we will make sure that every aspect is held to the highest standards to ensure a quality structure that is built to last. This phase may also involve specific plumbing and grading steps to ensure proper drainage as well.
Putting Together the Frame
After the foundation has been fully completed, it will be time for our team to get to work on the framework of the structure. This is where the true form of your home will begin to take shape as the materials form the skeleton of the interior and exterior walls, floors, ceilings, roofing systems, windows, doors, and more. It is important to remember that even if it happens to rain during this phase of the project, precipitation will not compromise the original quality of the building materials, and our team will do everything required to be sure your home is built the right way.
Once your home has been fully framed, the various systems inside including plumbing, electrical wiring, heating, and cooling will be introduced. Although these systems will be initially installed at this time, the final touches will be introduced at a later time, so this process is considered a “rough version” of how each of those components will appear closer to the end of construction.
Insulation and Drywalling
Following the rough systems installation in your home, the exterior walls will be insulated and drywall will be hung throughout the interiors. Certain windows may be left open to allow moisture to escape as part of the drying process. During this phase, we will also add insulation to the ceilings or any other specified locations at the appropriate times.
Painting, Staining, and Carpentry
At this point, your trim, interior doors, and other special woodworking projects inside the home will be installed. Cabinets, counters, and shelving systems and other features will be taken care of as well. This is also the time when your walls, trims, and other surfaces will be prepared and painted or stained based on your preferences.
Flooring Systems and Final Touches
Once all mechanical systems have been finalized inside the home, your preferred flooring systems will be added to each room, and our team will also be sure to handle any final touches based on the unique design of your home as well. Once everything has been taken care of, we will be sure to perform a final cleaning in preparation for presentation and inspection.
Quality Assurance and Inspection
Once everything has been put into place based on the unique plans and designs for your home, our team will introduce you to the final version of your home. At this time, we will give you important information about the various features inside and any operating instructions that are needed based on the designs. Your customized home is a symbol of achievement not only for you, but for our team as well, and we are always ready to go the extra mile to make sure you are completely satisfied with the finished product.
